Energy transfers by long-lived species in glows and afterglows*

S. De Benedictis and G. Dilecce

Centro di Studio per la Chimica dei Plasmi CNR, Via Orabona 4, 70126 Bari, Italy

Abstract: An overview of the current literature on diagnostics and modeling of energy transfers by long-lived species in N2CO, HeNO, HeN2O2, N2O2, and N2H2O plasma is given. Energy transfers by vibrationally excited ground-state long-lived species and by electronic molecular and atomic metastables will be highlighted.

* Lecture presented at the 15th International Symposium on Plasma Chemistry, Orléans, France, 9-13 July 2001. Other presentations are presented in this issue, pp. 317–492.
