Organic Chemistry

10—15 September 2003, Cavtat-Dubrovnik, Croatia !! IUPAC sponsored !!

The 13th European Symposium on Organic Chemistry will cover progress in organic chemistry, including synthesis, catalysis, physical organic chemistry, supramolecular chemistry, chemical biology, and new organic materials. The symposium will comprise 12 plenary and around 20 invited lectures, a limited number of oral contributions, workshops, and poster sessions.

The participants are particularly encouraged to contribute posters because of the rather limited capacities of two smaller lecture rooms, which are available next to the conference site’s main lecture hall (with capacity for around 1000 participants). Poster sessions will be extended to the evening hours; free lunches, drinks and snacks will be served in order to promote friendly, informal communication.

The local organizing committee in Croatia is organizing the symposium in conjunction with Rudjer Boskovic Institute. The committee has an ambitious concept that coincides with the symposium site: to encourage the Mediterranean spirit of frequent and friendly communication between all participants, regardless of their scientific rank, professional position, or age.

A program of social events is planned, including a reception, social dinner on the coast, and excursions to Dubrovnik and surrounding places. The symposium will be held in the Croatia Hotel, which lies in a beautiful location on a peninsula overlooking the Adriatic Sea on one side and the picturesque, small town of Cavtat on the other. The Dubrovnik airport is located about 7 km from Cavtat and 25 km from Dubrovnik. Many European companies have regular flights to Dubrovnik airport, either directly or via Zagreb.
