Title: International tutorial in
polymer characterization - POLYCHAR 16
Task Group
Chairman: R.P. Singh
Member: V.S. Parmar, A.K. Ghosh,
Veena Choudhary, Poonam Tandon, Witold Brostow, and Michael
Hess
Objective:
International, interactive tutorial for students/scientists/employees
from various universities (especially from developing countries),
national laboratories and Industries in modern techniques of polymer
characterization.
Description:
This Educational Project in Polymer Characterisation is particularly
suited for students from developing and emerging regions, scientists
from national laboratories or R&D employees from relevant Industries
to up-date their knowledge and skills in polymer characterization
by interactive oral courses presented (1 day) by distinguished scientists.
Since this annual course is moving to a new place in each year (
Portugal,
Singapore, Japan, Brazil, India, Slovak Republic
) this tutorial
is not restricted to one country or just one geographical area.
The tutorial is preceded by an important
international conference (World Forum on Advanced Materials-POLYCHAR
16), and that coordination has proven to be a good opportunity to
prepare the students for their participation in the following conference,
where many of them is given the chance to present their scientific
work (IUPAC Student Poster Award). With the tutorial being an independent
event, the chronological proximity and order have been proven to
be of great advantage for the success of the short course.
With topics in different fields of polymer
characterization, the focus is shifted each year slightly. The tutorial
takes advantage of the fact that the course lecturers are participants
of the following conference and are available for the students for
a whole week.
