Title: Source-Based Generic Nomenclature
for Polymers
Coordinator(s): E.
Marchal and E. S.
Wilks
Completion Date: 2001 - project
completed
Objective:
Present-day high performance polymer materials are becoming increasingly
difficult to name concisely utilizing existing macromolecular nomenclature.
This project aims to provide simplified rules for identifying polymers
and polymer materials clearly and concisely according to their type
and monomer sources.
Progress:
The document is progressing well. It has been expanded to include
nomenclature for homopolymer molecules and modified polymer molecules.
The document has been restructured and is now much clearer in its
statements and objectives. New versions were prepared for the Commission
meeting in 1998 and 1999, and the comments of Outside Experts have
been received.
A revised document is submitted to public review comments until
28 February 2001
