IUPAC
Subcommittee on Solubility and Equilibrium Data (SSED)
|
One of the
major functions of IUPAC Subcommittee on Solubility and Equilibrium Data
(formerly IUPAC Commission V.8) is to publish authoritative texts on all
aspects of solubilities. The main output of this Subcommittee is the ongoing
series of volumes IUPAC-NIST Solubility Data Series, or simply the SDS,
see published
volumes and future
publications. Historical details on, and objectives of the SDS can be
found at SDS history. The Subcommittee has also been
involved in publishing standard reference texts dealing with solubility
phenomena such as Experimental
Methods for Determining Solubilities, and Chemicals in
the Atmosphere.
The SSED organizes the popular series of
conferences International Symposium on Solubility Phenomena which are
held in even-numbered years. These symposia deal with all aspects of the
thermodynamics of saturated electrolyte and nonelectrolyte solutions, and
details on these conferences are available at ISSP conferences. The
12th International Symposium on Solubility Phenomena – Including
Related Equilibrium Processes was held from 23-28 July 2006 in Freiberg,
Germany, and the next
symposium, the 13th ISSP, will be held during July 2008 in
Dublin, Ireland.
