Title: Regulatory Limits for Pesticide Residues in Water

Remarks: Proposed cooperative project with Commission on Soil and Water (VI.3)

Completion Date: 1999

Objective:
Objective is to examine the various methodologies for setting standards for permissible levels of pesticide residues in water and recommend methodologies and data requirements suitable for a variety of water resources (e.g., drinking water, irrigation water, surface water). Project is needed by national and regional health authorities, water authorities, environmental agencies, and pesticide regulatory agencies involved in setting or evaluating water quality standards for pesticides.

Progress:
Outline draft to be available by January, 1999. Survey of current practices of regulatory authorities to be conducted during early 1999. A revised draft and proposed project recommendations will be available for review by the Commission on Agrochemicals and the Environment at the Berlin General Assembly during August, 1999. The project will be completed by the end of 1999 and a final report prepared for publication in PAC.
